Diabetes & Hypertension Screening Camp
In collaboration with a local diabetes specialist, Dr. Ramesh, I organised a diabetes and hypertension screening camp in Whitefield, Bengaluru, for informal-sector workers like domestic helpers, gardeners and drivers. Over 70 participants attended, with 35% having high blood pressure and 15% having high blood sugar levels. The camp revealed how stress, poor sleep, and diet might shape health in urban communities. It was aimed to outline the importance of early detection and raising awareness in tackling India’s growing “silent epidemic.” You can read more about it in newspaper articles here
A Snehagram Fundraiser
Snehagram is a vocational training and rehabilitation center for children living with HIV. I was touched to meet the children on a
school trip. As Head of Online Fundraising for Snehagram, I organized an online campaign with a team that raised money to support food, medicine, and essential needs. Over four months we coordinated outreach, crafted impact stories, and managed donation drives. The experience taught me the power of storytelling and digital collaboration in driving real-world change.
Spiti Valley Expedition
During a 20-day expedition to the Spiti Valley with The International School Bangalore, I took part in an immersive community and conservation experience. As a Grade 9 participant, I trekked through remote Himalayan villages and ancient monasteries, engaging closely with local communities to understand their way of life. Our group planted trees to support reforestation and soil conservation efforts, contributing to the fragile mountain ecosystem. The expedition, held during the school summer break, was both physically challenging and deeply meaningful.
